Sawadee Ka! I love Bangkok

My sister never like Bangkok, she always asked me, what's so attractive about Bangkok? What made you go to Bangkok again and again?

Cheap, shopping, thai cuisine, massage..... sad to say I am not man, that is something I can't enjoy there. And yes, I like Thai people, they are friendly, helpful, humble and soft spoken.

Look at me posting in front of the Grand Palace with a big smile. For those who have not been to the Bangkok Grand Palace, please take my advise, do not visit this place with singlet and short pants. They will make you to put on another piece of clothes, and sarong. This made me look so ugly and funny, and I refused to take any photo there.

The tuk-tuk ride is not cheap if you don't know how to bargain, you will get "slaughtered". We stayed at Arnoma Hotel, which is not far from MBK Shopping Mall, and yet we paid THB100 for it. We lose in the first round of this "bargaining game". When we planned to visit the Grand Palace, we only willing to pay for THB200 for a ride whereas the driver asked form THB300. After one round of bargaining, this guy finally agreed, but half way he stopped and asked, if he can drive us to a jewellery shopping stop. See, we are kind and helpful people, and he did not have to explain much, we agreed to drop by the shopping stop and helped him to make another THB200. The jewllerry shop will pay them allowance for bringing in customers to the them.

Many visitors have this experience, when they don't know where to go and what to do, they are always some helpful people came and offer help. I do not know if it is a duty of a Bangkok people to help promoting tourism, or it is a part-time job to them.

(It used to be the tallest Buddha Status, but now the ranking dropped to 2nd tallest)

We met a man when we were discussing where to go next outside of the Grand Palace, he recommended the tallest standing buddha status and Golden Moutain Shrine. He then helped us to flag down a tuk-tuk ride at the fare of THB40, with condition to drop by a jellewery shop (what again!).

We eventually paid the tuk-tuk driver THB200 instead for THB40 for touring us around about 5 hours. He did not ask for extra, but we paid him more.

Many visitors do not know there is another mean of trasnportation in Bangkok, that is Sampan boat. There is a river not far away from Arnoma Hotel, less than 5 minute's walk, there we saw the local travel with sampan like a public bus. Boat fare for foreigner THB10/pax.

(4-Face Buddha)

(What so special about this Chit Lom Station? It is right infront of InterContinental Hotel, and nearby the 4-Face Buddha, World Trade Center, 10 minute's walk from Pratunam. And now, most of the Bangkok hotels are on sale, of course including InterContinental. From now onwards until June 30, pay only one night room rate, enjoy 2 nights stay! Good deals? )
